Individual therapy is a personal opportunity to work one-on-one with a trained therapist in a safe and confidential environment to receive support during challenging times in life or on an ongoing basis for self-growth. Individual counseling can help with personal matters such as anger, anxiety, child and adolescent functioning, depression, parenting, phase of life issues, relationship challenges, stress, substance use, trauma, etc. Counseling allows individuals to explore their beliefs, feelings, and behaviors to understand themselves and others better, and to identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change. The therapist will work collaboratively with the individual to identify personal goals, overcome obstacles, and inspire change. Sessions are often held weekly or bi-weekly and typically last for 30-60 minutes.

Family therapy is designed to address issues affecting the psychological health and functioning of the family unit and is often sought to reduce stress and conflict that negatively impacts the family structure. The goal of family counseling is to improve the system of interactions between family members and aims to encourage understanding and teamwork to solve problems.

Common topics addressed in family counseling are adjusting to new members of the family, communication, divorce, financial hardship, grief and loss, parenting, relationship struggles, sibling conflict, etc. Family members are not restricted to blood relatives and those that reside in the same household, but to anyone that plays a supportive and significant role within the family unit. Sessions are often held weekly or bi-weekly and typically last for 60-90 minutes.

Group therapy involves meeting with a group of peers who face similar concerns to interact, discuss, and explore problems with each other and the group leader. The members of the group listen to each other and openly express their thoughts and feelings. These interactions give members an opportunity to increase understanding of self and others, learn more effective ways to interact, instill hope in one another, and enhances one’s understanding of specific struggles and potential solutions. Common topics addressed in group counseling are anger management, divorce and separation, family problems, grief and loss, life transitions, marital/partner conflict, parenting, self-esteem, trauma support, etc. Often groups have up to ten participants, usually held weekly and typically lasts for 60 minutes.
